What Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that focuses on Grappling, especially ground fighting and Self Defence. Often referred to as the “gentle art” there is no striking involved in BJJ, instead it focuses on using technique, timing and leverage to control and overcome an opponent or attacker, even one with a size and strength advantage. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu employs takedowns & throws, ground control positions, joint locks and choke holds to control or neutralize an opponent.

BJJ has been proven to be the most applicable martial arts system for self defence and real-life confrontations. Training BJJ sharpens the mind and the body, promotes self improvement and achieving your goals, and brings positive changes to the lives of all practitioners and those improvements transfer off the mat to all facets of your life!
